Diesel Mechanic
Diggersrest Timber Company is seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and equipment used in our timber operations. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our machinery, which is vital to our logging and transportation processes.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, heavy trucks, loaders, skidders, and other forestry equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to determine necessary repairs.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure timely and efficient operations.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies during all work activities.
- Maintain an organised, clean, and safe work environment in the shop and on the field.
- Respond to emergency repair needs in a timely manner, sometimes outside regular working hours.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Relevant trade qualification or certification in Diesel Mechanics.
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, preferably in the timber or forestry industry.
- Extensive knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and related components.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in machinery maintenance.
