Silvicultural Junior Forester
Normandien Farms (Pty) Ltd, requires the services of an experienced Silvicultural Junior Forester to be based in Piet Retief.
Duties will include
- Land preparation including burning, manual and mechanical spraying.
- Pitting, Planting and blanking.
- Weeding and Spraying operations.
- Pruning operations.
- Marking of compartments for thinning’s.
- Thinning operations.
- Road and farm/structures maintenance.
- Vehicle and resource management
- Open area management
- Fire protection – Fire break & Tracers burning / Local FPA liaison.
- Fire standby/duty and fire fighting
- Basic Forestry administration – (compartment management, fuel/chemical usage records)
- Annual APO submissions for budgeting
- Safety management and control
- Knowledge and Implementation of the BCEA, OHSA.
- Knowledge and Experience working with contractors/own labour
- Knowledge and Experience with both hardwoods and softwoods.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and skills
- This position will entail the management of people and communities

- Valid Code EB Driver’s License or higher essential
- A Formal forestry qualification is required
