  • Manage and maintain the company’s raw material and stocked product inventory on ERP and Excel register.
  • Ensure incoming product is receipted and managed appropriately and in accordance with company procedures on ERP.
  • Liaise with Site Operator and Suppliers regarding deliveries and (All Stock)
  • Ensure consumables and raw materials are ready and available for production as and when
  • Import stock onto ERP System
  • Capture and process all Purchase Orders on the ERP
  • Follow-up and ensure that all PO’s have been processed and finalised (invoiced and submit for payment)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

A Green chain Supervisor needs to be systems orientated/ impeccable attendance/ self-motivated/ good performer with long term goals of growth within the organization. This person plays a key part in the management of Safety program, employees, assists, quality control and to ensure the high standards of the products are maintained. Notwithstanding the fact that a person needs to explore ways of improving the standards of the products and production targets. Will be responsible for overseeing the Green chain area (stacking and pulling) of boards in different dimensions and length, production flow with minimum downtime.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • Wood Technology Diploma or relevant qualification and experience
  • Previous Sawmilling experience (2-5 years)
  • Wetmill and Green chain experience (2-3 years)

Duties and responsibilities

  •  Daily machine inspections
  • Achieve daily Green chain production targets
  • Ensure all stacks comply with SABS grading requirements and are neatly stacked with stickers 300mm apart.
  • Ensure that stackers guides are removed before pulling out the stacks.
  • Responsible, record keeping of safety audit/inspections and reach a DIFR below 1%.
  • Maintain and improve production throughput and quality standards.
  • Ensure all employees are competent on respective machinery.
  • Report any deviations or breakdowns timeously to the foreman/manager and assist in taking active measures to minimise future incidents.
  • Formulate, issue and follow up of job cards.
  • Maintain and improve recovery targets.
  • Ensure compliance in OSHACT (monthly tasks, Training, SWP, Job observations and BOP training)
  • Ensure housekeeping within your area is up to standard and that all machinery have been greased, oiled and cleaned after every shift.
  • Implement and uphold all company policy (Disciplinary, Leave, Smoking Cell phone, etc).
  • Preparation and implementation of employee’s development and succession planning.

DEFINITION

To perform a wide variety of routine Operational related tasks in support of the JGD Pallets & Box Manufacturers and JGD Sawmill group to provide accurate data entry support; and to provide information and assistance to supporting departments with regards to the daily operational requirements of the plant as well as direct reporting to the Director

CHARACTERISTICS

The daily reporting and operational duties that determines the effective and conducive running of the JGD Pallets & Box Manufacturers and JGD Sawmill on a daily basis.

SUPERVISION

To perform work duties with supervision and document, follow-up, report and communicate, information effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:

JGD Sawmill:

  • Overseeing of JGD Pallets timber requirements on a daily basis.
  • Daily timber cutting pattern.
  • Daily log stock.
  • Review and assess daily output target.
  • Production stats and closing stock

  • Maintenance forms are documented and assessed when completed.

  • Trade Tested as a Diesel Mechanic would be an advantage.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Repairs to and servicing of vehicles and mechanical plant belonging to the Company.
  • Completes stores requisitions for parts when necessary and draws only these from stores, ensuring that requested parts for the job are used and no additional stock held on hand in the workshop.
  • Receives Job Cards from the Manager, attends to the work indicated, and enters details of work completed on the job card.
  • Ensure that all repairs, services and other work carried out are done completely and correctly the first time.
  • Accept responsibility for the morale, well-being, motivation and training of subordinates.
  • Observes and implements the practices of good safety standards and housekeeping in the workshop area.
  • Incumbents to have an adequate supply of tools to perform their work properly. Only specialized tools are provided by the company.
  • Carry out both gas and electric welding when required to do so.
  • Carry out repairs to machinery in the plantation as well as in the workshop.
  • Ensures that the company allocated vehicle is kept clean and driven with care, in line with company standards
