Main functions will include but is not limited to:

  • Manage the KZN region sales team to ensure the building of a strong efficient and professional working environment.
  • Achieve and exceed the regional sales budget.
  • Build key relations with customers to ensure customer’s needs are identified and managing the system to meet those needs.
  • Perform in such a manner to achieve 95% customer satisfaction rating through attitude and proactive service.
  • Conduct independent surveys with customers to determine brand progress and problem areas.
  • Prepare and implement corrective action plans and objectives.
  • Systematically assess sales business practice and procedures against agreed benchmarks for brand maintenance and achievement.
  • Monitor brand implementation programs within sales.
  • Understanding of market segments and customer profiles to conduct regular market share updates.
  • Identification and growth of new customers and markets for PG bison products.
  • Provide leadership to align the customer service centre plans and procedures with the business objectives and goads. Ensure all customers are dealt with in a fast, efficient, and professional manner.
  • Ensure that existing client base is serviced and maintained.
  • Monitor that customers orders are delivered in full, on time and value chain management.
  • Promote sales with correct branding and sampling at all customers
  • Co-ordinate the implementation of market management and growth strategies and programs
  • Prepare plans, organise, lead, and direct sales team to achieve their goals and support the business objectives and plans

Minimum qualifications and experience:

  • Diploma / Degree in Sales/Marketing
  • A valid drivers’ license.
  • 5 years sales/marketing management experience in similar environment.
  • Clear credit rating
  • Be flexible to travel and being on the road for long periods.

We’re on the lookout for a Projects Manager – Group Scheme to manage the Group Scheme and Chain of custody for Sappi Forests in line with the requirements of the relevant certification schemes.

As a Project Manager – Group Scheme you will be responsible for:

  • Oversee the compliance and certification processes within the group scheme
  • Implement an effective monitoring system, appointing auditors and managing non-compliance issues
  • Maintain and update procedures and standards
  • Handle member relations, including their acceptance, termination and encouragement of eligible non-certified member to join
  • Organise annual events and manage incentive payments
  • Compile budget and reports
  • Ensure proper use of trademarks and liaison with certification bodies
  • Maintain the integrity of the chain of custody for products
  • Implement the requirements related to the marketing and sale of products, such as timber legality and the controlled wood due diligence system
  • Provide and effective monitoring system to ensure that Sappi Forests comply with the requirements of the relevant certification system
  • Appoint auditors and follow up on non-compliance and ensure it is corrected
  • Maintain documented procedures related to chain of custody
  • Provide information to the relevant certification body as and when required
  • Distribute any national risk assessments to relevant stakeholders
  • Train staff involved in chain of custody
  • Compile an annual report for chain of custody
  • Ensure that labelling and timber accounting records are accurate and meet chain of custody requirements on Timber Control System (TCS)
  • Handle complaints & appeals from stakeholders or auditors
  • Liaise with relevant certification body
  • Keep abreast of certification requirements
  • Maintain, review and update procedures relevant to certification on Metabuilder
  • Particpate in projects relevant to regional objectives
  • Maintain relationships with specialist organisations to keep abreast with techincal developments
  • Inform Fibre Supply and Resources staff and timber growers of latest available information and technical knowledge to improve cost effective fibre production
  • Ensure technical alerts from Research are distributed to timber growers

What are we looking for?

  • Tertiary qualification in forestry, agriculture or natural science
  • At least 8 years experience in timber procurement and/or forestry management
  • A few years’ experience of attending audits (internal and external) advantageous
  • Training in certification

Supervisor (Dulini Sawmill)

  • An established and well-known company in the Sawmill Industry has a vacancy for a supervisor.
  • The ideal candidate will have had several years of experience as a supervisor in both the Drymill and Wetmill and that is on the lookout for a long-term employment opportunity.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce cost, and maximize the quality, value, and recovery of lumber produced.
  • Planning the cutting schedule in accordance to the customer needs and the size of logs available.
  • Engage production and maintenance workers to achieve targets, meet expectations, address deficiencies in a productive and professional manner. Start up on time.
  • Must work in full compliance with the approved safety regulations.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping standards.
  • Report breakdowns and plan preventative maintenance with maintenance team.
  • Perform HR function of the team together with the Sawmill Manager and manager the overtime and resources.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a supervisor or equivalent experience in the sawmilling industry.
  • Own transport and drivers licence essential.
  • Candidates with Zulu language proficiency will be preferred.

Package and Remuneration

  • Market related, negotiable.
