Suitable external candidates are invited to apply for the position of Dry Mill Foreman at White River Saw Mills – Densa Mill
(Please note this foreman position is a SAWMILLING SPECIFIC junior position at supervisory level, and is NOT aimed at candidates who are artisans / engineering foremen / mining foremen)
Minimum Qualifications and Experience required:
- Proof of grade 12 school- and other qualification/s required
- Supervisor’s certificate/Saw milling certificate/similar qualification/s e.g. Diploma in Wood Technology and/or relevant “on-the-job” training beneficial (NQF Level 3 and above)
- Proven saw milling experience in the Dry Mill (especially at Finger-Joint) with references essential (minimum 3 years’ experience and 2 years’ supervisory experience)
- Fluent in English as official business language (additional languages advantageous)
- Knowledge of OHS Act.
Job Description, Duties. and Requirements:
- Good knowledge of SANS Standards (10096 and Structural Board Grading (Finger-Joint Grading)) advantageous (proven training beneficial)
- Experience in ensuring quality control measures are met and managed, preparation and passing of external quality control audits
- Control quality and productivity throughout inspection process
- Good knowledge of sample taking principles
- Grading as well as planer and finger-jointing exposure advantageous
- Good knowledge of finger-joint production processes advantageous
- Understanding and knowledge of machine set-up and principles of operating automatic machines
- Good communication and interpretative skills
- Self-motivated, hardworking individual that can work in a team
- Ability to analyze, plan, schedule and troubleshoot
- Enthusiastic, positive attitude
- Must be prepared to work shifts and/or overtime
- Responsible to manage the team’s activities and staff requirements
- Monitoring status of equipment and consumables in the section
- Upholding safety standards and good housekeeping practices
- Junior management of the team, including planning and allocating duties to different employees as well as discipline and development of employees.
